The latest Android 13 update. What should we expect?
The smartphone world is always relevant and there’s been an increasing mention of Android 13 lately. There were some facts about the update at a conference not too long ago, and users whose devices are part of the testing programme can experience the full functionality. At the moment, there’s only data from the manufacturer that works with Android 13, so we can talk about the functionality.
What new features are present?
The first thing worth saying is that the user is able to open a split-screen app with a simple gesture. All one needs to do is drag the app on top of the notification. In the case of messenger, this is much more convenient, and users of gadgets with a large display have already appreciated this feature. But it’s important to realise that this is still an experimental feature and a bit shaky.
For tablet
This feature is experimental in the previous version. But in some cases, it simply does not appear on top, but rather converts as a floating window. Companies are keen to promote multi-screen functions, but this still needs tweaking.
Of course, as far as Android 13 is concerned, there are some bugs in the works. At the moment, the version is running with the Developed Preview 2 shortcut. But an open beta version is expected any time now. Of course, contrary to all expectations, the end result could be completely different, without certain features or with some bugs.
Security of the device
Security is always an issue for the consumer, and Google is working on a new security and privacy menu. First and foremost, security will affect usage:
- Geolocation.
- Camera.
- microphone.
- Some permissions.
Security Menu
Thanks to the new menu, the owner will be able to check if an update is available for the OS. There will also be a transfer of information about Google Play. The menu is not fully operational at the moment, but there is already a device search function. It has to be said that it is worth waiting for more privacy settings in the future. It is not yet possible to say for sure that everything will be available right after the tests. As for fragmentation issues, it is still open.
